IndiGo Airlines is a private, low-cost carrier, which started its operations on 4 August 2006. The airline is based in Gurgaon, Haryana. IndiGo started its operations with a flight from New Delhi to Imphal via Guwahati. The airline was founded to service people who don’t want to waste money or time in booking flight tickets. And the airline has succeeded in achieving its aim by minimizing the cost, time and effort spent on air travel.
GoIndiGo Airlines has always focused on offering the lowest fares by cutting down their costs, without compromising on things of importance.
Destinations
Go IndiGo operates daily 259 flights to 26 domestic destinations in India. IndiGo has recently started operating international flights after successfully completing five years of domestic operations. IndiGo Air started international flights on 1 September, 2011, on the New Delhi-Dubai route. Not only Dubai, IndiGo will soon offer flights to other international hotspots like Bangkok, Singapore and Muscat. The international flights will be operated from New Delhi and Mumbai.
IndiGo Fleet
In order to meet the objective of keeping the operational costs to minimum, IndiGo operates only a single type of aircraft i.e. the Airbus A320-200. At present, IndiGo’s fleet of aircraft consists of 43 Airbus A320-200. The average age of the fleet is 2.3 years.
Apart from the current fleet of 43 Airbus A320-200, Go IndiGo has placed new orders for 88 Airbus A320-200 and 150 Airbus A320 NEO.
Onboard Services
To provide the lowest fares, IndiGo Airlines offers no costly frills. All the domestic flights have only Economy class seating. GoIndiGo offers complementary mineral water to passengers on board its domestic flights.
However, if you want, you can buy from a selection of food and beverages which includes vegetarian & non-vegetarian wraps, malabar parathas, sandwiches, flavored cashew nuts, cakes, potato sticks and samosas (veg. only).
IndiGo Air also offers a choice of healthy juices, lemonade and aerated beverages. If you are diabetic or health conscious, you can also order sugar-free health bars and drinks.
Liquor may be served on select sectors originating or terminating outside India. |
